1,5 mln views – Honda Civic 50th Anniversary
Project goal
The project's goal was to capture the essence of the Civic history over the past 50 years and engage Honda's social media followers to celebrate the Civic's Anniversary. We used nostalgia – the most important tool – to achieve the goal.
Delivery
We produced 7 animations in total – two trailers and five 30-second animations for each decade of Civic's history. Also, we designed printable posters with the same vibe. All animations were designed in a variety of formats (9x16, 16x9, 1:1) following the guides for each of the sites - Tik-Tok, Instagram and Facebook.
Creative Concept
Depending on the decade, each video required its own visual approach. Styles were inspired by the colourful hippie designs, Yellow Submarine movie, vaporwave aesthetics, ‘90s arcade games, hip-hop culture, early social media layouts and ‘00s teenage drama movies among many other references and sources.
Despite the differences in style, the collage technique allowed us to maximize the number of elements in each scene. Animations were narrated by one and only John Cena.
A great deal of time and effort was put into researching 3D models of cars and texturing them in accordance with history.
Result
The campaign was well-received by the audience. Fortunately, we've evoked nostalgic memories! Our animations gained almost 1.5 million views, a lot of positive comments, and a wide organic reach.
